I didn't get the unpaid leave I applied for, so there will be no Comrades for me this year. I did get four days of long service leave approved, so I'll be at UTA100 this year doing that in stead.
With a sore back at the end of January, my running was interrupted for about two weeks. Long runs are only up to about 35km, so that's not the best. But I'm doing about 6 hours, so that's a start.
My parkrun goal of doing a sub 30 minute each week has also not eventuated either. With a sore back, I missed two parkruns and last week I nearly didn't run either, but ended up heading out and finishing in 30 minutes 22 seconds. Run naked, so just ran on effort and took it easy.
Readjusting my parkrun goal and aiming for a sub 30 for 40 runs during this year (rather than every run!). I'll miss parkrun on the UTA100 and 3 Marathons in 3 Days race days.
Adjusting my sub-11 Comrades goal to a UTA100 18 hour finish. That's just out of my league, especially having been hampered with a sore back. Doing Blackall 100 in 19 hours, doesn't fill me with too much confidence as UTA is harder. But I'm still going to give it a go and if I can finish in under 24 hours I'll be happy.
